Marriott International has announced plans to open a new W Hotel in Cairo. Expected to open in 2024, the new W Cairo will be in 1-Ninety, a mixed-use development in the emerging New Cairo district with retail space, commercial and residential developments.
Approximately 15 and a half miles from Cairo International Airport, the new hotel will be home to the W brand’s signature WET Deck (pool deck), AWAY Spa and FIT Fitness Centre, as well as 350 rooms and suites. The hotel is also expected to offer multiple food and beverage venues, spaces aimed at mixing and mingling, plus meetings and events space, which will include an approximately 5,400-square-foot Great Room.
In a written statement Marriott said that the growing demand for luxury in Egypt led to the signing of the new property.
Marriott has partnered on the project with Landmark Sabbour, a real estate company that recently launched 1-Ninety. With a total investment of $1.75 billion, 1-Ninety incorporates a variety of administrative, retail, commercial, and residential components.
W Hotels is one of Marriott’s boutique lifestyle hotel brands. The brand is currently in the process of revamping its New York location into a flagship property, and it recently opened new hotels in Aspen and Abu Dhabi. New properties are also planned for Buenos Aires and Nashville, and Marriott is developing all-inclusive resorts under the W brand.
