Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort Golf & Spa is opening a new clubhouse and event lawn in February as part of its new, 18-hole Greg Norman-designed golf course.
The new, ranch-style golf clubhouse will be set high above the ocean and enjoying views of the opening and closing holes of both nines. The clubhouse will have a restaurant with both indoor and al fresco seating, a fully equipped golf pro shop and a lawn event space that overlooks the fairways and ocean beyond. Adjacent to the clubhouse will be a full-service practice facility with a large driving range, an 18-hole putting course and a dedicated short game area with a practice bunker and target greens for pitching and chipping.
Located within the community of Rancho San Lucas, a seaside 834-acre resort and residential enclave 15 minutes from Cabo San Lucas’ downtown area, the golf course will have ocean views from every hole. On the course, three comfort stations will provide Mexican specialties and cold refreshments.
Designed and developed by famous golfer Greg Norman, the golf course guides players through three different ecosystems, beginning with majestic windswept dunes, climbing through a thick cactus forest, shifting into the seashore and finally returning to the beach and dunes. The course design uses technology such as sharp-edged, steep-walled revetted pot bunkers constructed from recycled artificial turf that can withstand the area’s strong Pacific Ocean breezes. Norman and his design team also created a 12-hole short course that consists of 12 low-lying holes drawn from the regulation 18 for use during the windy season in late spring.
The new 18-hole golf course will be the newest amenity exclusive to guests staying at the Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort Golf & Spa, which opened in January 2018. Other amenities include seven dining options, such as the signature Anica restaurant, as well as The Spa by the Ocean, a saltwater lagoon, a Kids’ Club and more.
Guests staying at Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort Golf & Spa will enjoy a 15 percent inaugural discount on green fees, and guests staying at all Solmar Group hotels will have a 10 percent discount.
