IFEMA has been named the Best Convention Center in the World at the first ever World MICE Awards, a global initiative to recognize excellence in the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors.
This recognition, according to Jose Vicente de los Mozos, president of IFEMA, “represents a strong boost to our strategy of being an international reference for the business tourism sector and contributing to the dynamism and wealth of Madrid. A strategy also focused on digitalization, to which we are devoting our resources, which will lead us to gain much more international weight and reach new markets.”
IFEMA has been promoting its MICE activity for some years now, organizing events and trade fairs, and hosting large international events and congresses with thousands of attendees. In 2019 alone, the institution hosted 749 conventions and professional events, in addition to 18 large conferences with exhibition, 25 percent and 125 percent more, respectively, than the previous year.
Organizers from all over the world rely on IFEMA every year, holding important international events in its venues, such as the ERS Annual Congress 2019, EADV Congress 2019, World ATM Congress 2012 to 2019 and Reale Seguros Madrid Fusión, among others.
Along these lines, IFEMA’s MICE activity has also boosted Madrid’s positioning in these awards as the Best Tourism Destination for Meetings in Europe, an award it has received for the third consecutive year, which draws attention to what is on offer in business tourism in the Spanish capital compared to other large European cities, such as Barcelona, Vienna, Paris or Berlin.
