The San Francisco Travel Association has promoted Julie Van’t Hul to vice president of convention sales. In her new role, Van’t Hul will collaborate with the Moscone Center and the city of San Francisco to bring major conventions and events to the destination.
Van’t Hul brings over two decades of hospitality leadership experience to the role, including six years at San Francisco Travel as director, citywide accounts. Prior to joining the organization, Van’t Hul held positions at Choose Chicago as well as Starwood, Marriott and Kimpton hotels.
“Julie has been instrumental in re-engaging and re-educating our convention clients about San Francisco in the wake of the pandemic,” said Nicole Rogers, executive vice president and chief sales officer at San Francisco Travel. “Her leadership and guidance have helped propel the city and San Francisco Travel forward over the past few years and have no doubt set her up for success as she takes on this vital leadership position within our organization.”
The tourism industry is the largest generator of outside revenue into San Francisco’s economy, and conventions alone drove $587 million in visitor spending in 2022.
The San Francisco Travel Association is the official destination marketing organization for the city and county of San Francisco. The city is one of the top tourism and meetings destinations in the U.S. and received 21.9 million visitors in 2022; total tourism spending exceeded $7.7 billion that same year. The tourism industry is the largest generator of outside revenue into San Francisco’s economy and supports more than 53,000 jobs.
