Kim Borneman has been hired by the San Diego Tourism Authority (SDTA) to serve as its national sales director for the West Coast. In her new role, she will oversee sales for the San Diego Convention Center. Borneman previously served as regional director of sales for the West at the Visit Dallas Convention and Tourism Bureau.
At SDTA, Borneman will draw on her extensive hotel sales experience. She has worked at Starwood Hotels and Resorts as a citywide account director and regional account director. She also served as director of sales and marketing at Pan Pacific Hotels, and as director of sales for Marriott Hotels and Resorts. She is also an active member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI), Corporate Event Marketing Association (CEMA) and PCMA.
In a press note, Borneman said, “This is a critical time for the SDTA as it guides the recovery of the local tourism economy. I cannot wait to join the team and help drive visitor demand by booking high-profile and lucrative conventions.”
The San Diego Tourism Authority aims to drive visitor demand to economically benefit the San Diego region. It is a private, non-profit, mutual benefit corporation and comprises approximately 1,000 member organizations, local governments, businesses and individuals seeking a better community through the visitor industry. Tourism is the second largest segment of San Diego's economy and typically employs almost 200,000 people across more than 12,000 businesses.
