The Travel and Meeting Society (TAMS) has appointed business travel industry veteran Mark Williams as executive director, a newly created position within the organization. Founded in 2020, TAMS is a collaborative grassroots and independent society of business travel industry professionals with a mission to deliver education and innovation to the travel and meetings industry.
Williams has over three decades of experience within the travel industry, having worked as a travel buyer, supplier and consultant. He has held senior leadership positions at PwC, IBM, Advito, WorldTravel and Nina & Pinta Consulting. Williams also previously served as president of the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) from 2003 to 2004. He is currently the CFO for OnWrd & UpWrd, a boutique marketing and communications agency focused on corporate travel, association and non-profit clients.
TAMS originally began as a community group to unite travel and meeting professionals during COVID-19, but has evolved into a professional membership program. The organization launched its inaugural membership drive in October, and the effort attracted new members from all facets of the travel and meetings industry. With a focus on driving innovation and solving industry challenges, bringing in new members allows TAMS to expand its thought leadership and its impact on the industry.
“We’re so fortunate to have Mark’s leadership and expertise to help TAMS open a new chapter of growth,” said Jennifer Steinke, chairperson of TAMS. “The TAMS mission has always been to empower all industry professionals—regardless of their role, experience or position—through quality education and connection. We’re pleased to continue to bring the industry together in new and exciting ways with an executive director of Mark’s caliber.”
TAMS members benefit from educational resources, professional development opportunities and informative speakers. As part of the organization’s membership drive, individuals registering before February 15, 2023 can receive a two-year membership for the price of one year ($69).
