Survey: Greater Investment on Business Travel Is Coming

Flight Centre Travel Group has announced the launch of its first-ever “State of the Market” global survey. It digs into the latest insights and trends driving the behaviors and preferences of business travelers and shaping the future of the industry. The online survey was conducted by the corporate division of Flight Centre Travel Group between June 3 and July 11, 2024. It analyzed more than 560 client responses across the globe from its flagship brands FCM Travel and Corporate Traveler.

According to the results, there is expected to be a greater investment and focus on business travel in the year ahead. It was revealed that 40 percent of businesses globally plan to increase the amount they travel during this fiscal year (July 2024 to June 2025), compared to the same time period last year. Additionally, 42 percent of customers globally plan to increase their spend on travel versus last year.

The breakdown of expected travel frequency and spend by customers surveyed globally is below, along with the results for just those customers based in the Americas.

Expected Travel Frequency in FY25:

  • 10 percent globally (12 percent Americas) intend to increase travel by more than 20 percent
  • 30 percent globally (29 percent Americas) intend to increase travel by up to 20 percent more
  • 35 percent globally (40 percent Americas) intend to travel about the same amount
  • 10 percent globally (9 percent Americas) anticipate a reduction in travel
  • 15 percent globally (10 percent Americas) are uncertain on plans to increase/decrease travel

Expected Travel Spend in FY25:

  • 6 percent globally (8 percent Americas) intend to increase spend by more than 20 percent
  • 36 percent globally (39 percent Americas) intend to increase spend by up to 20 percent more
  • 31 percent globally (32 percent Americas) intend to spend about the same amount
  • 11 percent globally (8 percent Americas) anticipate a reduction in spend
  • 16 percent globally (13 percent Americas) are uncertain on plans to increase/decrease spend
