Sonesta Miami Airport recently completed a five-month-long, multimillion-dollar renovation. The property makeover, which began in June 2024, was led by the design team at DiLeonardo and general contractor HITT.
The renovation included a complete transformation of each of the hotel’s 309 guestrooms, designed with both leisure and business travelers in mind. For added convenience, 117 guestrooms offer connecting options, including king rooms linking to double rooms. Each king room is outfitted with a walk-in shower, while all double rooms have bathtubs.
The newly renovated restaurant, Tailwinds, serves a menu of Latin-inspired dishes, seafood and South Florida favorites, utilizing locally sourced ingredients.

Guests can also enjoy a rooftop pool, complete with a sun deck, chaise lounge chairs and new private cabanas. The newly upgraded, 24/7 fitness center is equipped with the latest cardio and strength training equipment. The hotel also has an expansive outdoor patio, which is well-suited for al fresco dining or hosting events.
The hotel is home to more than 7,400 square feet of meeting and event space. The Front Room, formerly a restaurant, now offers 2,100 square feet of space with abundant natural lighting, a bar, refrigerator and multiple TVs. The hotel also has two boardrooms, each offering 320 square feet. Each of the other five meeting rooms is 1,100 square feet and is equipped with built-in sound systems. Additionally, the 3,300-square-foot Royal Palm Ballroom, which accommodates up to 160 guests, can be converted into three separate meeting rooms.
