Portugal’s Octant Évora Debuts Nature Reserve for Meetings and Groups

Octant Évora, located on 27 acres within the UNESCO-listed city of Évora in Portugal’s Alentejo region, has expanded its meetings and groups offerings with the launch of its nearly 15-acre Perdiganito Reserve. Set amid the landscapes of Europe’s largest reservoir, the expansion project offers unique experiences for meetings and groups of all ages while preserving the natural reserve’s authenticity.

Understanding that many corporate travelers now combine business with family time, the property introduces The Land of Explorers, a dedicated space where attendees’ children can engage in structured activities. This area offers interactive experiences including stargazing, a story tree and various adventure elements. In July and August, children can participate in dam tours, knot workshops, archery, pottery, ropes courses and yoga during the day, allowing parents to focus on business objectives while ensuring family entertainment.

The reserve has three trails, each offering a unique way to experience the property: the Western Trail, for early risers seeking morning tranquility; the Eastern Trail for capturing evening views; and the Lake Trail for scenic walks along the reservoir. Nestled within nature, guests can find three wooden swing cabanas, which can serve as informal breakout spaces or private meeting pods, strategically placed for both productivity and inspiration.

At the heart of the 27-acre UNESCO-listed Perdiganito Reserve lies the 1,184-square-foot Water Dam Deck, a multifaceted space that can host everything from safari breakfasts to wedding celebrations. The deck, furnished with sofas and loungers, can serve both corporate gatherings and leisure activities, with options for picnics and on-demand wellness sessions like yoga and personal training. Complementing this central space is a 16-foot-tall Observation Tower, offering views of the Alentejo plains, as well as stargazing opportunities after nightfall.

The property’s location provides easy access to cultural attractions while offering the seclusion needed for focused corporate gatherings. Designed by architect Teresa Barão, the latest outdoor space encourages guests to reconnect with nature and admire the expansive plain leading to the Monte Novo reservoir. Activities include horseback riding, bird-watching, exploring the Perdiganito ruins, hot-air balloon rides, cycling, and wine tasting.

Group packages include customized programming, event coordination and special rates for extended stays. The property’s events team creates bespoke experiences incorporating local traditions, outdoor adventures and wellness activities.
