The Riverhouse, a Pacific Northwest hotel located on two sides of the Deschutes River in Bend, OR, has announced extensive renovations and a rebrand as Riverhouse Lodge. This encompasses all guestrooms, the Currents Restaurant & Bar with its riverside patio, the Convention Center and the expanded and relandscaped wedding lawn. The renovation to the lobby and all public spaces will be completed by the end of this year as Riverhouse Lodge prepares for its 50th anniversary in summer 2024.
Created in partnership with Echo Marie Studio, the new design draws inspiration from the hotel’s river-centric setting, besides its historic motor-lodge roots and esthetic. The new Riverhouse Lodge serves as a basecamp for adventurous travelers who visit Bend for outdoor pursuits such as mountain biking, hiking, fishing, paddling, skiing and golf as well as the craft beer scene.
All 221 updated guestrooms have tones of blue and rusty brown; the new bunk-bed rooms are ideal for families and groups. Several fire pits have been added and many patio spaces expanded. River-facing guestrooms on the lower level have fire pits and new Adirondack chairs. Tip: Roasting sticks and s’mores are available to purchase from the front desk.
The newly refreshed Currents Restaurant & Bar has an open layout, stylish lighting fixtures and a fireplace. Guests can dine al fresco with heaters and fire tables on the outdoor patio. They can extend their meal with time at the pool table and shuffleboard in the bar area. Created by new Executive Chef Travis Taylor and Chef de Cuisine Damon Jones, the refreshed menu is driven by hyper-seasonal ingredients and showcases the local farms and purveyors. Guests can also enjoy cocktails and light bites at the bar.
The Convention Center at Riverhouse Lodge, offering more than 41,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, has been refreshed with new carpets. The venue accommodates groups ranging from five to 1,800 guests with spaces that are designed for any type of event, including breakout sessions, team-building activities, weddings, family reunions, trade shows or conferences. Additionally, the wedding lawn has been enlarged and newly landscaped for weddings and events for up to 200 people.
The new lobby space will utilize reclaimed wood from the old Stern’s Cattle Company cabin that was salvaged from the property. Metal touches will be incorporated into the millwork, fireplace surround and lighting as a tribute to the history of industrial mills in the area.
