InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has announced the planned summer 2024 opening of InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk. The 21-story property will offer 390 rooms with 20 suites, 18,000 square feet of meeting space, a Club InterContinental lounge, and four restaurant and bar concepts. Located in the popular downtown Riverwalk neighborhood—and less than a mile from the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center—the hotel will offer direct access to the landmark pedestrian promenade as well as easy access to a water taxi-landing zone.
The hotel's meeting and event spaces range from a boardroom with the latest A/V to an 8,000-square-foot ballroom with 18-foot ceilings. The property is also equipped with such facilities and services as an 1,800-square-foot fitness center, Les Clefs d’Or concierges with local and cultural knowledge, on-site valet parking services along with an ample self-park garage, dedicated house cars, same-day dry cleaning services, shoeshine capability, childcare assistance, and a Club InterContinental lounge, to name a few.
Owned by Trailbreak Partners in conjunction with Scarlett Hotel Group, the hotel is designed by Leo A Daly and the internal IHG design team. The overall aesthetic is inspired by classic film heroine Joan Crawford and the golden age of Hollywood. It blends mid-century architecture and furnishings with elegant finishes. Velvet furniture in various pops of color offset the otherwise neutral color palette, and the space is full of objects that consist of brass, marble, dark wood, cognac leather and glass.
In conjunction with Heartwood Hospitality, InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk will house four on-property restaurant and bar concepts, including a ground-floor American brasserie; a sociable third-floor rooftop pool and cocktail bar; a grab-and-go all-day café and coffee shop; and a lobby bar with an extensive cocktail menu.
At the helm is the newly appointed General Manager Stefan Gruvberger, who brings nearly 30 years of global hospitality experience to Texas.
