Hyatt Regency Greenwich Continues With Next Phase of Makeover

Hyatt Regency Greenwich in Connecticut, a Trinity Investments property, is continuing its phased renovation to the tune of $40 million . The property-wide transformation encompasses updates to the pool and fitness center, a new atrium event space, the introduction of Glenna’s Café and Market alongside Townsend Bar, and a complete remodel of all 374 guestrooms and suites.

Paying homage to its location in the 1920s as home of Condé Nast Publishing’s printing operation, the hotel’s designs will incorporate photos and illustrations from issues of magazines that were once printed on site. The vintage-inspired décor will acknowledge the property’s coastal location along the Long Island Sound.

The next set of enhancements, expected to be finalized by the end of summer 2024, focuses on the common spaces. The atrium-style lobby will be entirely redesigned but will retain the familiar foliage. Approximately 2,300 plants will be housed in the space—800 more than were there previously. Visitors can enjoy drinks and bites from Townsend, a new moonlit garden bar in the lobby. The eatery will serve craft cocktails, bar bites and shareable plates from late afternoon into the night. Opposite Townsend, the new Garden Court will provide a flexible space that can also be booked for private events.

Just off the lobby will be The Library, a gentleman-style lounge where guests can unwind with a drink, play a game of billiards, browse through vintage Condé Nast publications or choose a cigar from the humidor. Also in the common area will be Glenna’s Café and Market, a coffee shop with house-made breakfast and lunch and an assortment of grab-and-go options. Named after Connecticut resident and Hall of Fame golfer Glenna Collett-Vare, Glenna’s will have a full-service café serving coffee drinks, sandwiches and more, and will also sell items from local businesses.

The final stage of the new developments will be the guestrooms. Each of Hyatt Regency Greenwich’s 374 guestrooms and suites will be renovated. From the beds to open storage areas, every aspect of the room has been designed with guest comfort in mind. Modern amenities include a workstation and ample outlets and USB ports. The refreshed guestrooms are available for booking, with the complete hotel redesign set to be unveiled in November.

The renovation of the 28,000-square-foot meeting and event space was revealed in 2020. In late 2023, the property upgraded its indoor pool, hot tub and 24-hour fitness center, complete with new cardio and strength equipment, along with new Peloton bikes.
