Barnsley Resort Announces Renovations and Expansions

Situated just 60 miles outside of Atlanta on the site of an 1840s estate, Barnsley Resort offers a 3,000-acre destination brimming with elevated Southern experiences. Now, the property has unveiled a series of updates including refreshed interior design and renovation of the cottage guestrooms and suites, the debut of Biergarten, the addition of pickleball courts, improvements to the Beretta Shooting Grounds, and more.

The 39 free-standing cottages, inclusive of 84 guestrooms and suites, have completed a $6.2 million remodel executed by Charlotte Lucas Design, a Charlotte-based interior design firm.

Complementing the newly renovated cottages, the resort’s village setting has welcomed a newly built Biergarten. Located in the center of the resort village, the Biergarten will house a two-sided stacked stone fireplace and a covered pavilion, allowing guests to enjoy football and lawn games in an al fresco setting, rain or shine. A new kitchen and L-shaped bar will serve a rotating menu of regional, German and European brews, paired with an all-day menu of biergarten classics, including pretzels and bratwurst, plus barbecue favorites, wings, salads and sandwiches. A late November completion is anticipated for the Biergarten.

The Beretta Shooting Grounds by High Adventure Company now offers an enhanced experience for sporting clays, including a new five-stand station for group and introductory experiences along with the design and installation of two new 15-station clays courses adjacent to the sporting ground’s Clubhouse, which also received an expansive new deck for outdoor events. A new field for Helice, another form of competitive shotgun shooting, was added, expanding the on-site shooting choices. Originating in Italy, the sport involves bringing down a series of uniquely designed targets launched in the air, known as “Helices,” which spin rapidly and unpredictably, testing the participant’s speed and instinct. These options join the resort’s sporting portfolio, which includes seasonal quail and pheasant wingshooting, the Swarovski 1,000-yard challenge and UTV rides. Now, all shooting experiences are offered at one convenient location.

In addition, the resort’s roster of recreational activities also expanded with the addition of six new pickleball courts. The lighted courts offer leisure and competitive play including team-building options for groups with views of the Jim Fazio-designed golf course.

Good to know: The resort’s ownership team has invested in several infrastructure projects including the construction of a new storage building to positively impact resort team members’ work environment and efficiency to benefit the overall guest experience.
