VAI Resort is set to open in Glendale, part of metro Phoenix, in late 2024. The 1,100-key resort is set to become Arizona’s largest hotel property yet.
The diverse elements of the region are intertwined throughout the property, showcasing the beauty of the desert. Led by Scott Hillig, president of design and development for VAI Resort, the philosophy of the property revolves around creating a unique and experiential environment that showcases the seamless integration of entertainment, culinary artistry and hospitality.
The resort’s design journey has been shaped by collaborations with firms such as Davis Ink, DH Companies, Gensler and KTGY + Simeone Deary. The design of all hotel accommodations draws inspiration from the overall music concept of the hotel. VAI Resort comprises four hotel towers: Amphitheater has rooms integrated with the VAI Amphitheater, allowing guests to enjoy an intimate concert experience; Cadence exhibits music sheets and raw scraps of paper that capture original scores and lyrics from renowned artists; Rhythm also sports song lyrics written out in a mixture of moss and metals; and VAI Villas offer rooms ranging from 1,100 to 5,300 square feet.
The centerpiece of VAI Resort is its VAI Amphitheater, set against a five-acre oasis backdrop. The resort will also include a “destination within a destination”—the 52,000-square-foot Konos Island—showcasing a range of food and beverage venues and entertainment options, plus beaches.
Additionally, there will be 12 restaurants dotted across the resort, inviting guests to enjoy a range of culinary experiences.
