Archer Hotel has added a seventh property to its collection, and a fourth on the East Coast, with the debut of the Archer Hotel Tysons, a luxury, new-build hotel in Fairfax County, Virginia, in the new Scotts Run South development. At the foot of the McLean Silver Line Metro Station and just nine miles northwest of Washington, D.C., the 178-room boutique hotel will cater to both business and leisure travelers.
Archer Tysons has easy access to Washington, D.C. and Reagan National Airport and is minutes away from Tysons Corner Center (the 10th largest mall in the U.S.), the upscale Tysons Galleria, and a short five- to seven-minute walk to Capital One Center and Capital One Hall. Just across the street, is 1800 Chain Bridge, a soon-to-open public plaza with restaurants, shops and luxury residences.
Rooms at Archer Tysons have four distinct layouts. Classic King guestrooms have a custom “Sweet as a Peach” mural paying homage to the rural peach grove that once stood on the hotel site. A Double King room has two king platform beds. Those checking into an Archer King Suite will find a mid-century modern eggplant mohair sofa with a white snakeskin coffee table and ottoman. The Archer’s Den With Balcony suites are the hotel’s largest accommodations at just over 870 square feet. These suites offer a private furnished balcony, separate living area, fully stocked wet bar and a master bathroom with a walk-in shower, a large soaking tub and a double vanity. Walls showcase local artwork, along with Archer’s favorite local bedside books and curated daily turndown treats.
Designed by LK Architecture Inc., Archer Tysons has an open floor plan. The seven-story building has a "House Art Collection" displaying works of local and regional artists. Their works tell individual or Virginia-centric stories. There will also be mini galleries adorning each guest corridor. On the seventh floor is a photo gallery of several of the most iconic musicians of all time who once called Virginia home. These include lla Fitzgerald, Jim Morrison, June Carter Cash, Wayne Newton, Patsy Cline and Roberta Flack.
The hotel has a number of complimentary services ranging from Wi-Fi throughout to an in-room Nespresso coffee experience. Archer also offers a daily rotation of locally curated and house-made turndown treats. Guests can indulge in Peach Bellini hearts, chocolate-dipped fortune cookies, dark and milk chocolate squares and wafer rolls, Honeycombs and assorted Rock Candy.
AKB—Archer’s hotel bar—has an extensive beverage list. Mornings feature freshly roasted Intelligentsia coffee and a full menu of specialty javas served hot, over ice or on the run. An à la carte menu offers a spin on such breakfast favorites as avocado toast on locally sourced sourdough toast and a Southern-style Americana with chicken andouille sausage and homemade cheesy grits. AKB also serves pizza for breakfast, with specialties including smoked salmon, farmer’s morning, sunrise margherita and steak eggs.
In the evenings, the bar serves classic cocktails by the glass or carafe, seasonal sangrias and punch, a full array of Scotch, Irish, Japanese and American whiskey with a spotlight on Virginia makers. Rum, cachaça, tequila, pisco and mezcal round out the offerings. Chef Michael DeBride oversees the evening menu with a focus on shareable fare and brick oven wood-fired pizza. Fresh regional seafood and house-made rotisserie chicken are key ingredients in such selections as flash-fried East Coast oysters and chipotle chicken flatbread. Also on the menu are Farmer’s market grilled and roasted vegetables, hand-cut rosemary pommes frites, house-smoked wings, tacos de pescado and a sliced-to-share cowboy porterhouse.
For on-the-go convenience, The Market offers a range of healthy snacks, fresh fruit and juices, along with pre-packaged favorites and sundries; this 24-hour lobby pantry offers any-time access. A lobby curio has a special selection of souvenirs curated from local artisans and Archer.
Archer Tysons has over 17,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, with capabilities to host up to 150 in flexible venues, including The Penthouse on the seventh floor, which has soaring wood-plank ceilings and crystal-clad chandeliers, and offers 3,025 square feet of space. Floor-to-ceiling windows and skylight dormers fill the space with natural light. A built-in, full-service corner bar is customizable to support any event. The adjacent Penthouse Terrace offers 2,110 square feet of space. The outdoor venue is mostly covered and offers easily arranged soft seating, movable bars and heat lamps.
The seventh floor also offers two salons—both are more intimate for smaller gatherings. The 615-square-foot Moonlight Salon is inspired by Jim Morrison, a songwriter, poet and frontman for the band, The Doors. The salon features floor-to-ceiling windows and a metallic wallcovering. An 86-inch HDTV and complimentary Wi-Fi support any presentation. One of the first songs that Jim Morrison wrote and the first that the four band members rehearsed together was called “Moonlight Drive”—hence the name for this space. The 865-square-foot Oasis Salon also offers floor-to-ceiling windows and a geometric Carrara marble wallcovering with gold accents. This venue provides two 86-inch flat-screen HDTVs and complimentary Wi-Fi and is inspired by Roberta Flack, who was raised in Arlington, Virginia. In the early 1970s, she won consecutive Grammys for Record of the Year, and the title track of her “Oasis” album reached the top of the R&B and dance charts in 1989.
Carrera marble and glass-paneled doors lead into the first-floor Great Room. Offering over 2,430 square feet of space, the brick-clad venue has floor-to-ceiling windows. The space features 16-foot lofted ceilings framed by steel trusses and corrugated metal panels. A hand-painted flowering dogwood mural honors both Virginia’s state tree and state flower—and oversized framed mirrors and modern candelabra lighting set a distinctive mood. Divisible by two (1,365-square-foot Great Room A and 1,065-square-foot Great Room B), with outdoor access, this event space is ideal for meetings, breakouts and more.
Archer’s first-floor Boardroom is an airy, 730-square-foot retreat for 12-14 guests. With 16-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, the boardroom has modern chairs surrounding the power-ready wood conference table. An 86-inch flat-screen HDTV, plus complimentary Wi-Fi, support any presentation.
AKB, the hotel’s classic bar, also offers a glass-clad Private Dining Room (300 square feet) for 10 and three semiprivate gathering spots, including the 435-square-foot Alcove with shuffleboard, the cozy, 175-square-foot Heart Nook with soft seating and the 515-square-foot Back Lounge, plus the 900-square-foot alfresco Patio with fire pit.
Deal: Guests who book directly with Archer receive a $20 drink and dine credit that can be used at AKB for dine in or takeout. The credit will automatically appear on the guest’s folio and be applied to any food and beverage charged to the guestroom or suite. Guests who stay at three different Archer Hotel locations automatically earn a free night for a future stay at the Archer Hotel of the guest’s choosing.
Nightly weekday and weekend rates start from $259 and $199, respectively. A celebratory 20 percent discount for the grand opening is being offered at any Archer Hotel. Travelers must book by October 31, 2021 and stay by March 31, 2022 (promo code: CELEBRATE).
