IBTM has selected Singapore as the destination for the inaugural edition of IBTM Asia Pacific to be held from September 6-7, 2022 at Marina Bay Sands. A sister event to IBTM World and IBTM Americas, it will be coupled with the first edition of Singapore MICE Forum (SMF) x IBTM APAC, in partnership with Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organizers & Suppliers (SACEOS). The forum will be held on September 5 and consists of a targeted marketing-leading program of content to ensure delegates have the insights they need to deliver show-stopping events.
The inaugural IBTM Asia Pacific event signals the progressive return of international events to Singapore, and the resurgence of the MICE industry. Singapore is a key MICE hub and ideal location for the event owing to its vibrant business culture, infrastructure and track record in delivering similar events. Before the pandemic, the Singapore MICE tourism industry reached $2.5 billion in 2018 and is estimated to achieve a market value of $5.2 billion by the end of 2027, registering a compound annual growth rate of 8.4 percent.
The theme for IBTM Asia Pacific in 2022 is “Make Every Connection Count.” The event will convene international event professionals, key suppliers, destinations, venues and hosted buyers. Exhibitors from over 40 countries, besides pre-qualified hosted buyers and visitors are expected to attend the event.
The event is underpinned by IBTM’s hosted buyer program backed by technology which creates personalized appointment diaries for hosted buyers and exhibitors to ensure that delegates only meet people with whom there’s a good chance of doing business, ensuring that every connection counts. Registration for hosted buyers has already begun.
Poh Chi Chuan, executive director, exhibitions and conferences, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said, “We value the partnership with IBTM and Singapore is proud to be host destination for the inaugural IBTM Asia Pacific. As the global MICE industry gears up for recovery, this event will serve as a critical platform for the industry to network, learn and form partnerships.”
