Meeting Professionals International (MPI) sent a letter to members Tuesday saying that it stands in solidarity with the people of Southern California following the devastating wildfires that have impacted countless lives, leaving families and communities to face unimaginable loss and hardship.
Showing support for the communities, president and CEO of MPI, Paul M. Van Deventer said that MPI Foundation's Natural Disaster and Hardship Relief Fund is available to help impacted members. The fund will cover six months of membership at no cost, with an additional six months funded by the MPI Foundation; professional education; and event attendance to aid recovery and career growth.
Van Deventer also noted that the MPI Southern California Chapter has compiled a comprehensive list of resources for evacuees and those impacted, including:
- Emergency relief and evacuation assistance
- Housing and financial aid
- Mental health resources and counseling
Additionally, Los Angeles Tourism has established a dedicated landing page for the American Red Cross, where it is matching all donations dollar for dollar up to $25,000. The Los Angeles Regional office of the Red Cross has been on the ground since day one, providing safe shelter, food, emotional support, and other critical services. Van Deventer concluded by thanking the community of meeting professionals “who exemplify the power of coming together in times of need.” He wrote, “As we stand together to support our Southern California colleagues, we encourage you to get involved if you feel compelled to help.
