Nice Côte d'Azur Airport, France's second-largest airport, is now connected to Nice city center, due to the recent inauguration of line 2 of the tramway.

This line enhances accessibility to the Nice Côte d'Azur Airport for tourists and residents. Nice's main tourist attractions and most hotels and restaurants are accessible through this service.

It now takes less than 30 minutes to connect between the tram stations of "Terminal 2 Airport" and "Jean Médecin," and to be interconnected with tram line 1, for a fare of €1 (10-trip card) or €1.50 per solo ticket. Line 2 serves places such as the airport, the Grand Arénas, Phoenix Park and now the centre of Nice. In December 2019, the terminus of line 2 will be extended to the Port of Nice (Port Lympia).

Here is the timetable for line 2 of the tramway.

  • During the day, a tram runs every 12 minutes between Jean Médecin and the Airport.
  • From Terminal 2 Airport, first departure: 5:30 p.m. last departure: 8:45 p.m., (12:31 a.m. on Friday and Saturday)
  • From Jean Médecin (Nice centre), first departure: 6:55 a.m. last departure: 9:20 p.m., (1:05 a.m. on Friday and Saturday).

There will be an increased timetable and frequency from Monday, September 2.

The installation of the tramway is not only a travel perk, but a sustainable one as well. It has resulted in the construction of an over three-mile cycle path, a green walkway and the planting of more than 2400 trees along its route. This new line will help reducing traffic and related nuisances.

When tram line 2 is not in service, early in the morning and later in the evening, the "airport direct line" BUS takes over at a rate of €1 (10-trip card) or €1.50 per solo ticket. This shuttle will offer a direct journey between downtown Nice and Nice Côte d'Azur Airport in 25 minutes, starting Monday, July 1, 2019.
