New Convention Center Planned for Cancun

Haven Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa, an adults-only, all-inclusive resort 15 minutes from the Cancun International Airport, has announced plans to build an on-site convention center. Plans call for the new venue to be complete in fall 2020.

The new facility will span 25,000 square feet and it will be located on the resort’s 250-acre complex. It will have a dedicated porte-cochere and lobby, separate from the main guest lobby, as well as a central ballroom with more than 14,500 square feet of meeting space with flexible design and multiple optional configurations and breakout rooms. The Main Ballroom will have a ceiling height of nearly 22 feet with no chandeliers, columns or obstructions. It will be complemented by a large pre-function area with national light, as well as three smaller separate multi-use rooms. Other features will include audio-visual technology, a dedicated kitchen, separate storage room and a short walk from all guest suites and resort facilities.

In addition to the new Convention Center, the resort will also add 105 guest suites, to open along with the new venue in fall 2020. Unlike existing guest suites, these will be double occupancy and specifically designed to meet the needs of meeting and convention groups.

The Convention Center is being designed by ArquetipogdL, an architectural and design studio based in Guadalajara, Mexico. Founded in 2002, the group has experience in conceptualizing and designing hotels, with a portfolio of more than 60 projects in Mexico, the Caribbean and United States.
