FITUR 2021 Dates Announced; Will Be Held May 19-23

The next edition of the International Tourism Fair, FITUR 2021, will be held from the May 19 to 23 next year, as agreed by IFEMA and the FITUR Organizing Committee. This comes after a meditated decision that, exceptionally, makes this event essential to the recovery of the tourism industry, at a time that will still preserve its high international impact and thus, promote the professional reunion of companies, countries and destinations and provide a much-needed boost to the worldwide tourism activity.

Stats: 45% of Companies Expect to Resume In-Person Events in First Half of 2021

The majority of Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) companies expect their employees to return to in-person events in 2021. Almost half (45 percent) expect attendance to resume in the first half of the year, according to the latest poll conducted between September 15-19, 2020, by GBTA, with an additional 25 percent expecting a return to in-person events in the second half of 2021.

Washington Governor Advances Statewide Meetings and Events Guidance

Due to the advocacy of the Washington Meeting and Convention Coalition (WMCC), Washington governor Jay Inslee has modified the state’s Phase 2 and Phase 3 restrictions around business meetings, professional development training and testing, and similar activities, effective from September 21. According to the new guidance, the governor’s "Safe Start" reopening plan will permit meetings and business events to be held at an indoor capacity of 30 percent or 200 guests, whichever is less (excluding venue staff)

The Hungarian Event Industry is Prepared to Host Large-Scale MICE Events

On September 10, the #PowerOfLiveEvents initiative left the virtual space and converted into an all-day live conference with support from the newly formed Budapest Convention Bureau and the Budapest Festival and Tourism Centre and with the cooperation of the industry associations.

Heavent Meetings Hosts First Event in France Since the Coronavirus Pandemic Hit

More than 350 exhibitors, 500 decision makers and 1,850 participants attended the MICE event by Heavent Meetings in the Palais des Festivals Cannes in the beginning of September. The event will celebrate its 41st edition from January 20 to 24, 2021, at Feria de Madrid, and offers among its varied content a strategic area that is a meeting point for the specialized offer and demand in this segment, which is key to boosting the tourism industry worldwide.

Trade Shows to Resume in Istanbul

Fairs and exhibitions in Istanbul have resumed under strict hygiene rules and precautions due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. 

CNR Beauty & Wellness Fair became the first international fair to be opened in Istanbul after a six-month break. Implementing the safety and health regulations including social distancing, hygiene, and obligatory face masks, the Beauty & Wellness Fair expects to host 25,000 professionals over three days.
