The Grand Hotel Sunnyvale in Silicon Valley has announced its upcoming $25 million annex will be completed June 1, 2021. A 60,000-square-foot addition will span four floors with 51 new rooms, two meeting spaces and a new gym. In total, the hotel will offer 155 rooms and villas, three indoor meeting spaces that can accommodate up to 80, an outdoor events space for up to 150, an outdoor heated pool, and more for business and leisure travelers.
The Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau (Long Beach CVB) and Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center (LBCEC) have introduced Long Beach Live, a turn-key solution to blended in-person and virtual conventions, conferences, meetings and events. Long Beach Live integrates localized micro-community, in-person gatherings with interactive, fully produced digital broadcasts to distant attendees. It is availabe in four experiences: Live, live stream, interactive and on-demand.
The Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC), owned by the City of Los Angeles and managed by ASM Global, has announced that the facility has been awarded LEED certification at the Gold level for existing buildings operations and maintenance for the third time. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the most widely used green building rating system in the world and an international symbol of excellence.
Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (Los Angeles Tourism), the official destination marketing organization for the City of Los Angeles, announced that its board of directors has appointed Adam Burke as president and CEO, removing his interim title. Burke will be responsible for ensuring the achievement of the organization’s mission, which is to leverage the economic power of tourism to improve the quality of life for all Angelenos.

To note, each will receive Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR accreditation on outbreak prevention, response and recovery.
Team San Jose, along with its board of directors, have announced the passing of Karolyn Kirchgesler, president and CEO. The entire Team San Jose family, which includes the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, the collection of San Jose Theaters and Visit San Jose, extend their condolences to the Kirchgesler family and to all of her loved ones. Kirchgesler was diagnosed with cancer in October 2019 and officially stepped back from her role as CEO of Team San Jose in a heartfelt video message this April.
