Mandarin Oriental, Boston Announces Guestroom And Event Space Renovation

The Mandarin Oriental, Boston has commenced a four-month, $15 million-dollar renovation project of all of the property's guestrooms and event spaces.

The renovation, which began at the end of 2019, is scheduled for completion in April 2020. The hotel remains open throughout the refurbishment, which is being phased to allow for minimum guest disruption.

Conceived by Champalimaud Design, the project includes all guestrooms and suites, as well as the hotel’s 10,000 square feet of event facilities. The Spa is also being enhanced with the addition of three new treatment rooms and refreshed wellness amenities.

Champalimaud Design has approached the renovation of the guestrooms and suites from a residential point of view, incorporating both early New England design and classic Chinoiserie, the European interpretation of Chinese and East Asian artistic traditions. The interiors will incorporate bespoke fabrics as well as updated amenities and technology. The Premier Suites will be enhanced with the addition of kitchenettes.

The event spaces are being designed as "ornate jewel boxes." The area will be bathed in opulent and creamy neutral tones with complementary accents that give each room its own personality while serving as a transformable canvas for a variety of meetings and events.
